Dota 2
Dota 2 is an action real-time strategy game by Valve, the successor to the Warcraft III mod Defense of the Ancients. Valve announced it on 13 October 2010. The free-to-play release was 9 July 2013 for Windows, and 18 July 2013 for Mac and Linux.[1]
Match[edit]
Two teams of five, Radiant and Dire, each player on one hero. The win is destroying the enemy Ancient. Heroes level from nearby deaths and spend skill points on abilities. Items fill six inventory slots and are bought with gold. IceFrog, the lead developer of the original mod, joined Valve in 2009. The public beta ran from 2010 until the 2013 release, just before The International 2013. Liquipedia counted 128 heroes in the article used here, 113 carried from DotA Allstars and 15 original.[1]
