Counter-Strike
Counter-Strike is a multiplayer first-person shooter. Minh Le and Jess Cliffe began it as a mod for Half-Life. By the fourth beta, Valve was helping them and then hired both. Valve acquired the rights. Sierra Entertainment published the retail game for Windows on 9 November 2000, after more than a year of public beta.[1]
Later games in the line include Counter-Strike: Condition Zero, Counter-Strike: Source, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and Counter-Strike 2.[1]
Play[edit]
Two teams, counter-terrorists and terrorists, either finish an objective or eliminate the other side. The retail game shipped as multiplayer only, with no computer-controlled players. Liquipedia records a Metacritic score of 88 from eleven reviews, and retail sales of over 4.2 million copies by 3 December 2008.[1]
